MAC MILLER SUED FOR $10 MILLION

WHATS THE WORD : MAC MILLER SUED FOR $10 MILLION Another day, another Mac Miller lawsuit. This time, Miller is staring at a $10 million suit for using sampling another artist’s work. According to HipHopDX, an artist who goes by Warm Speakers filed a suit against Miller and his label, Rostrum Records for copyrights violation. The complaint was reportedly filed Wednesday in New York, and it charges Miller for stealing “The World Around You,” which Speakers supposedly wrote in June 2010. The suit goes on to state that Miller swiped the song “without his permission or knowledge” and reworked it as “Fuck ‘Em All,” which later appeared on one of his mixtapes. From the suit: “Miller uses other people’s music because it’s easier, cheaper, and faster than creating his own,” reads the complaint. “Miller seeks to capitalize on the common misconception in Copyright Law that people whose music he takes have no remedy if he gives their music away for free.” The funny thing is that Miller already acknowledged using the song, shouting out the original artist on Twitter: “Shout out @warmspeakers for the song we sampled on Fuck Em All,” he tweeted. Miller can’t catch a break these days. Lord Finesse also filed a $10 million lawsuit against Miller last month for using the “Hip 2 da Game” instrumental on a mixtape song. It should be interesting to see how this one plays out.

Shot by actor-turned-photographer Lance Gross, Teyana struck a pose identical to Janet’s iconic cover for her self-titled 1993 album, Janet. And she looked pretty amazing doing it.

Of course Janet’s photo is iconic, but it’s always a good idea to pay homage. This was a flattering attempt. I love it.

The classic CTR Yellowbird from German Porsche manufacturers RUF recently went under the microscope of esteemed automobile magazine Car and Driver. Improving the performances of much of the already competent Porsche offerings since 1939, the 1987 CTR Yellowbird represented a massive benchmark in the automotive world upon its release. A twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter engine boasting a conservatively reported 469 horsepower and 408 lbs-ft of torque propelled the 2,600 lbs car to 0-60 mph times of 3.7 seconds and a top speed north of 210 mph. Recently, October’s very own Drizzy Drake chopped it up with MTV News and shared advice he received from boxing champ Floyd Mayweather.

In light of haters and/or critics, Drizzy mentioned,

“There will be days when I walk in an arena and people will cheer and then there might be days when I walk in an arena and people might boo, but it all sounds the same to me because it’s all just noise that lets me know that I’m relevant,”

“I don’t get booed,” Drake continued. “I don’t face that. I mean he faces that challenge but my challenge is more with social media and open opinions and people just feeling like they need to talk.”

Wiz Khalifa & Mac Miller Announce “Under The Influence” Tour

Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller have officially announced their joint “Under the Influence” tour, beginning in late July and running through early August 2012. The tour will be kicking off at Cincinnati, Ohio’s Riverbend Music Center on July 26th. Stops on the tour include Boston, Massachusetts, New York, New York and Chicago, Illinois. The short tour concludes at Detroit, Michigan’s DTE Energy Music Theatre on August 5th.

“I’m really excited for this tour, for the fans and as a fan of music myself. It’s gonna be trippy!” said Khalifa in a statement. Mac added, “I’m excited to go on a tour like this because it brings a group of individuals together to move across the country as a unit to showcase great music.”
