Mary J. Blige has joined forces with other entertainers to raise money for Australians suffering from massive floods throughout the region.

Blige is joined with Sean Paul and Maxi Priest to perform at Birsbane's Raggamuffin Music Festival Reggae For Recovery— Flood Relief Benefit Concert on January 30 where they pledged a portion of their ticket sales to the Premier's Flood Relief Appeal.

WENN reports:
Organizers of a series of shows in Australia featuring Mary J. Blige, Sean Paul and Maxi Priest have vowed to donate proceeds to a relief fund for victims of the country’s devastating floods.

The state of Queensland was plunged into a state of emergency this month as heavy rain caused massive flooding throughout the region – at least 25 people have died and thousands of residents have been forced to flee their homes. The floodwaters have now also affected the state of Victoria.

Blige and Priest are among the stars due to perform at Brisbane’s Raggamuffin music festival on 30 January, and organisers have now renamed the gig Reggae For Recovery – Flood Relief Benefit Concert.

Concert organizers also pledged 10 percent of proceeds in four cities the festival will visit to disaster funds.

LYFE JENNINGS GETS 3 1/2 YEARS IN PRISON

Lyfe Jennings got 3 1/2 years in prison today for a high speed car chase. Officers, originally responding to reports of gunshots in the area, observed Jennings’ red 2005 Chevy Corvette jetting the scene and gave chase, which led to him crashing the vehicle.

At the conclusion of their investigation officers, arrested and charged Mr. Jennings with Criminal Trespass, Discharging a Firearm Near a Public Highway, DUI-Refusal, all misdemeanors. Mr. Jennings was also charged with Attempting to Elude and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, both felonies.

Mr. Jennings was lodged at the Smyrna City Jail where he was later transferred to the Cobb County Detention Facility. suspect vehicle leaving the area. The vehicle was a red 2005 Chevrolet corvette, later determined to be registered to Chester J. Jennings, of Marietta, GA.
I’m not clear on whether the crash or the officers caused the scars on Lyfe’s face, but since Jennings is a convicted felon he may NEVER get out of that mutha! I keep telling y’all transplants not to f*ck around in CC…but you won’t listen!

Timbaland: “Why Would I Commit Suicide?”

Reports of a suicide attempt by Timbaland have proven to be false.

The producer called in to Ryan Seacrest’s radio show this morning to clear up the rumors.

From E! Online:

“It ain’t nothin to worry about,” he said during an interview this morning with Ryan Seacrest.

According to family members, the 39-year-old hip-hop superstar disappeared following the theft of a $2 million Jacob & Co. watch from his home.

His wife and mother-in-law called in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said he had left his Malibu home “upset, under a lot of stress” and they feared a “possible suicide attempt.” An APB was issued before 5 p.m., and a helicopter and squad cars were mobilized.

Sheriff’s deputies soon found him driving near the Pacific Coast Highway.

But Timbaland says everyone way overreacted. The beatmaster himself called in to Ryan’s radio show this morning to clear up any suicide rumors, saying that the whole incident was blown out of proportion, and that this isn’t the first time people have stolen from him.

“I don’t know what happened to be honest with you, I don’t know what people are talking about,” he said. “People steal from me all the time. Stuff did happen, it wasn’t a watch it was something else.”

What he was upset about was that the item had been in his house and he knew someone he trusted had taken it. He then took a drive to clear his head.

When he didn’t respond to frantic calls from friends, they assumed the worst.

“They probably thought because I won’t talk to them, I guess people got worried. If my mom ain’t callin’ or my brother or my best friend, ain’t nothing to worry about. The officer pulled me over, he just had to do procedures. I snapped, ‘Who the heck reported something like that? No, why would I commit suicide?’ “

Tim went on to say that he’d been in the studio all morning with Keri Hilson finishing up her new album.

We’re beyond glad to hear that this was all a big misunderstanding!

Jay-Z Tops Tops Richest Rappers List Again!

Four years ago "Jay-Z" issued a lyrical taunt to his fellow rappers: “What you call money, I pay more in taxes.” Turns out his line was more than just a boast.

Jay-Z pulled in $63 million over the past 12 months, earning him his second straight hip-hop cash crown. His income level places him in the 35% tax bracket, which means he’ll pay Uncle Sam about $22 million this year–a sum greater than the total earnings of any other rap star besides second-ranked Diddy.

The top 20 earners on this year’s Cash Kings list racked up about $300 million in earnings, an average of $15 million per artist. Remarkably, the total is roughly the same as last year, despite a troubled economy and a music industry thrown into flux by new technology.

Read the rest at Forbes.

The List

1.Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter: $63 Million
2.Sean “Diddy” Combs: $30 million
3.Aliuane “Akon” Thiam: $21 million
